NNormal seeks runners to prove the Kjerag 02 lasts more than 1,000 km

The brand unveils the durability study of the Kjerag 02, showing an average lifespan of 1,096 km.
To prove it, NNormal is launching an open challenge: complete 1,000 km in 10 days using a single pair of shoes.
NNormal, the brand founded by Camper and Kilian Jornet in 2022, has released its durability study on the Kjerag 02. A total of 172 testers analyzed the shoe's performance under real-world conditions.
The study combines several methodologies: runner surveys assessing perceived wear and tear, photographic analysis of the shoes’ condition to visually validate deterioration levels, and a linear regression statistical model approved by IESE University to estimate the end-of-life point of the product.
“We analyzed the Kjerag 02 using a rigorous approach, combining feedback from 172 testers, visual analysis, and statistical modeling. Now we want to validate those results through a real-world, open, and transparent test,” explains Sito Luis Salas, CEO of NNormal.
The results place the average lifespan of the Kjerag 02 at 1,096 kilometers, confirming its position as a shoe designed to perform over long distances while maintaining its key features and performance for hundreds of kilometers.

The Ultimate Test
Now, the company wants to put these results to the test. To do so, the brand is launching an open call for runners around the world: complete 1,000 kilometers in 10 days using a single pair of Kjerag 02 shoes.
The initiative is looking for an individual—or a team of up to three people—capable of designing and carrying out their own challenge. From mountain traverses to relay formats or personal ultra-distance projects, the concept is entirely open, provided one condition is met: covering 1,000 kilometers with a single pair of shoes.
Selected participants will receive a pair of Kjerag 02 shoes, a complete NNormal outfit, a GoPro to document the experience, and €1,000 to support the production of the project. In addition, the challenge will be shared in real time through the brand’s channels, documenting the entire journey.

With this initiative, NNormal aims to reignite the conversation around durability in sports equipment. The longer a product lasts, the lower its environmental impact: fewer replacements mean lower consumption, less waste, and fewer emissions.
Commitment to Durability
NNormal develops its products under the philosophy “Replace Less. Do More.”, focused on reducing environmental impact through equipment designed to last longer and cover more kilometers.
This is the third durability study conducted by the brand, following previous analyses of the Tomir 02 and the Kjerag 01. It forms part of NNormal’s ongoing commitment to developing more durable and long-lasting products. Through this approach, the company seeks to maximize product performance throughout its lifespan, reduce the need for frequent replacement, and promote a more conscious model of consumption.
